Bloodblight Swamp
Bloodblight Swamp is a hazardous region located in the eastern part of Ghornfell on the continent of Ashenfall. The area is characterized by its poisonous green mists, corrupted water, toxic environment, and exploding plant traps, all created by the blood of General Velgar. Players are recommended to bring an antipoison potion when traveling through the region, as entering the swamp automatically fills the poison debuff bar up and eventually will poison/damage the player.
History
[edit | edit source]The Bloodblight Swamp was once a very different place. The Garou seeking refuge from the war with the goblins retreated here and found peace. They farmed the fertile plains, raised families, and made this place their home. They spent their days farming wheat and barley safe from the war.[1] But it wouldn't remain untouched forever. The god Bandos stormed Brakka's Folly and challenged General Velgar to a battle to the death. Bandos, full of pride and underestimating the Dragon's strength, chose a greataxe to fight Velgar.[2] Despite Velgar's rock-like hide, Bandos managed to cut a great scar down his side. Feeling confident, Bandos threw aside his weapon, armor and protective ward, moving in to wrestle the great dragon. He nearly succeeded. Bandos wrapped his arms around the dragon's neck.[3] Velgar, in a bid to escape, called down a poison-filled rock from the heavens and cast it at Bandos, striking him in the temple. As the god reeled, he released Velgar, allowing the dragon to breathe a jet of anima-infused poison at Bandos.[4] Bandos breathed in the toxins and felt weakness for the first time in centuries. The god retreated rather than face death; a decision he framed as "tactical" rather than cowardice.[5] Velgar, victorious but still enraged from the battle, spilled his blood over the surrounding landscape, forever corrupting the plains and Garou within with his hate-filled venom.[6]

Journal
[edit | edit source]Once these lands were fertile plains. Great fields of wheat and barely were sewn by the garou that made it their home. It was a resting place for a people that had been hunted for too long - a sanctuary at last.
But General Velgar put a stop to that dream. He was injured in battle with an arrogant god, flesh scarred in conflict, with wounds weeping. His blood, warped by the magic gifted to him by his queen, became a terrible toxin that cursed the region forever.
Now, poison mists float from the soil. All the water is corrupted by this toxic blood. The air alone is dangerous, tinted green by the vengeful cruelty of Ghornfell's master.
The garou here have grown resistant to the poison, though their minds are addled by constant exposure. They are more dangerous, more violent and more filled with hatred, with an entire settlement that seethes with rage.
Monstrous creatures roam this region. Ancient nightmares from another world prowl in the shadows, hunting any that might foolishly enter unprepared.
