The settings interface.

The Settings screen can be found whilst starting the RuneScape: Dragonwilds client. Below are features that players can adjust to enhance their gameplay:

Hide Chat

[edit | edit source]

Players have the option to hide the chat overlay completely. To do so, they must confirm their choice by clicking on the box on the right. This option is disabled by default.

Gravestone Protection

[edit | edit source]

Players can choose to prevent other players from accessing their gravestone. This option is disabled by default.

Screen Shake

[edit | edit source]

Players can choose to disable or enable screen shake during combat. This option is enabled by default.

Camera

Sensitivity X

[edit | edit source]

This option controls the generic mouse sensitivity along the x-axis across the game. Players can adjust the setting by dragging the pointer across the bar. Sensitivity X is set to five by default.

Sensitivity Y

This option controls the generic mouse sensitivity along the y-axis across the game. Players can adjust the setting by dragging the pointer across the bar. Sensitivity Y is set to five by default.

ADS Sensitivity X

This option controls the mouse sensitivity when aiming down sight (ADS) along the x-axis. Players can adjust the setting by dragging the pointer across the bar. ADS Sensitivity X is set to five by default.

ADS Sensitivity Y

This option controls the mouse sensitivity when aiming down sight (ADS) along the y-axis. Players can adjust the setting by dragging the pointer across the bar. ADS Sensitivity Y is set to five by default.

Invert X / Horizontal

This option can invert the horizontal axis of the mouse or joystick. Players can confirm their choice by clicking on the box on the right.

Invert Y / Vertical

This option can invert the vertical axis of the mouse or joystick. Players can confirm their choice by clicking on the box on the right.

Controls

Press To Sprint

Players can press the Sprint key to toggle sprinting on and off, rather than holding it.

Auto Detect (Quality)

Players who click the APPLY button will automatically apply the best video quality for their computer configuration.

Quality

Players have five options that can drastically change the level of graphics in the game up to the level they select:

  • Auto - Very low (default)
  • Low
  • Medium
  • High
  • Very high
    • Choosing this option will enable Nanite.
  • Epic
    • Choosing this opition will enable Nanite.

Upscaling Mode

Upscaling mode is an algorithm used to improve visual fidelity. Players can choose to adjust this by clicking on the side buttons to change to:

  • TSR (Balanced) - This option is set by default. This contains a good balance of image quality and performance, often a solid all-around choice.
  • DLSS (Best) - Renders the game at a lower resolution than the target display resolution.
  • FSR (Fast) - Prioritises performance, may have a softer image quality.
  • NIS (Fastest) - Heavily prioritises performance, can look sharper, but might have more artefacts.
  • Off - Disables any upscaling.

Upscaling Quality

Upscaling quality is how the game changes visual fidelity whilst moving around in-game. The options below depend on the setting chosen above:

Anti-Aliasing

Players can choose the anti-aliasing quality. Anti-aliasing smooths jagged edges in the display.

Global Illumination

Players can choose the quality of ambient lighting.

  • Off

Reflections

Players can choose the quality of an object's reflections due to the sun or other types of lighting.

Shadows

Players can choose the quality of an object's shadows due to the sun or other types of lighting.

Foliage

Nanite

[edit | edit source]

Players can choose to turn on Nanite to improve an object's geometry detail. Nanite is turned off by default.

Recommended below are lists of GPUs that can handle Unreal Engine 5's Nanite mode:

  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, 4080, or 4090
  • AMD Radeon RX 7800 XT or 7900 XTX:

Display

Graphics API

Players have three options to adjust their graphics level in-game:

  • DX12 (default)
  • DX11
  • Vulcan

Resolution

Players can adjust their resolution in the game if the Display Mode setting is set to Windowed or Full Screen. Several options can appear based on the following Display Mode adjustments:

  • Full Screen Windowed
    • 1,920x1,080

    • 1,280x720 (default)

  • Full Screen

Display Mode

Players have several options that display the game on their screen.

  • Full Screen Windowed (default)
  • Full Screen
  • Windowed - This will allow players to change the Resolution setting between 1,280x720 and any higher resolutions, depending on the player's graphics card.

Frame Rate Limit

Players can change the frames per second (FPS) to several thresholds:

  • Dynamic (default)
  • 30 frames per second
  • 60 frames per second
  • 90 frames per second
  • 120 frames per second
  • 140 frames per second

Brightness

The brightness calibration with the left RuneScape: Dragonwilds logo barely visible.

Players can adjust their brightness based on the calibration screen after clicking on OPEN CALIBRATION. This screen will pop up three RuneScape: Dragonwilds logos, with the logo on the left adjusted by the adjustment bar below.

Sharpness

Players can adjust the sharpness from 10 (default) to 100, only if the Upscaling Mode option is set to FSR (Fast) or NIS (Fastest).

Depth of Field

Players can adjust the depth of field in the game; this is set to 100 by default.

Bloom

[edit | edit source]

Players can adjust the bloom that controls the hazy glow around light sources; this is set to 100 by default.

Frame Generation

Players can turn on Frame Generation only if the Upscaling Mode option is set to FSR (Fast). Depending on the player's graphics card, this may improve the image quality.

VSync

[edit | edit source]

Players can turn on Vertical Synchronisation (VSync) to eliminate screen tearing.

Advanced

GPU Crash Debugging

[edit | edit source]

Players can automatically report GPU Crash Debugging if the Steam client crashes. Note that enabling this feature has a small performance cost.

Players can choose the direction in which an action (attacking, blocking, or evading) should be performed.

Controller Vibration

Players can choose to vibrate their controller when playing on a gamepad. This option is enabled by default.

Players can adjust movement, combat, menu, item, quick-access, building, crafting, and quest interactions with these default key/controller buttons. Players at any time can change the default settings by pressing the default assigned key and then choosing any key/controller button to override the default setting.

Audio

Players can adjust the Master, Music, SFX, and Dialogue volume. Note that all these options are set to 100 by default.

Language

Players set their language from its default setting, English (United Kingdom), to Spanish, French, Italian, or German.

Font Size

Players can set their font size from its default setting, Normal, to Large or Small.

Enable Profanity Filtering

Players can enable or disable the profanity filter, applying to in-game chat and players' signs. This can optionally apply to usernames and server names.

Filter Usernames

[edit | edit source]

Players can check this box to apply the profanity filter (if set to enabled) to usernames. Note that usernames will not be filtered in the server users list, so players can copy the usernames for reporting purposes. This option is set to disabled by default.

Strong profanities

[edit | edit source]

This option determines the strength of the profanity filter if Enable Profanity Filtering is set to enabled. This option is set to Always by default.

  • Always - will always filter entries, even if they are in the middle of a word. For example, if "cat" is in a profanity, then "scatter" would be filtered to "s***tter" and "catfish" is filtered to "***fish".
  • Filter if full word" - will only filter entries that are surrounded by blank spaces or punctuation. For example, if "cow" is a profanity, then "coward" will be unaltered, but "cow" will be filtered to "***".
  • Ignore - will ignore the strong profanity filter list.

Mild profanities

Social

Players can choose to either kick, ban, or unban players in their friends/banned list. Note that players in the Steam's friend list are also listed in the settings' Friends List.

Update Privacy Settings

[edit | edit source]

Players can update their Steam Privacy Settings by clicking on the UPDATE button. This will take players to a separate window in-game where it goes over the player activity and game diagnostics for the player. Make sure to confirm the choices selected and see here for more information.

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information

Players who choose to opt out of selling their personal information in the UK are linked here (and here for players in the US) to Jagex's privacy policy websites.

Epic Account Services

Update EOS Settings

Players can update their EOS settings by clicking on the UPDATE button. This will lead players to an in-game popup where players can either choose to continue playing with Epic Games or play offline instead. For more info, players are directed to click on the link on the bottom-right of the screen.

  • Resolved an issue where the Space Bar and the C buttons were not moving the camera up and down in the Eye of Oculus Skill Spell.

  • Controller improvements have been implemented, including (but not limited to):
    • Updated controller mapping
    • Entering and exiting interface mechanisms
    • Easier accessibility to build-mode, dialogue, and processing stations

  • You can now pause the game whilst in Solo mode.
  • Resolved an issue causing geometric deformities on Very Low graphical settings.

  • Fixed an issue that caused popups to repeatedly appear when restarting the game to apply a graphical setting change.
  • Missing SFX for AI after beginning a combat encounter with them have been restored.

  • We've added improvements to key binding, allowing more keys to bind to other actions. Anti-aliasing has been added back to the game and several settings have been moved for convenience.
  • We've fixed the audio not playing as expected in multiple places.
  • We've added in-game settings to allow players to customize their experience.
hotfix 16 April 2025 (0.7.1.3):
  • Updated Graphics setting options in the Settings menu:
    • We have removed Anti-aliasing options and now default to TSAA, which seems to work best for our game.
    • We've added the ability to run with Direct X11 for people who have encountered CPU-based issues... More on this later!
    • We have removed some upsampling options (Simple, TAAU) that weren't working as we wanted them to.
    • We've defaulted to TSR as an upsampling option over NIS for earlier graphic cards.
