We used to talk about power as if it were some ephemeral notion—a collection of things—status, skill, charisma, all stacked together in one umbrella term. But that’s not real power; this is. What now courses through my veins is the embodiment of that word. In me is the very essence of the stone itself.

Not just the stone but the earth, the dirt, and the plants that grow within it. I feel each of them, and with a wave of my hand, I make them follow my will.

Is this what it feels like to be a god? To command dominion over elemental earth? It moves as I beckon; it shapes as I command. With a thought, I conjure a tower that would have taken me months to craft before.

Kerapac was a fool to seek the Anathema. The real power is here, in this place. The discarded afterthoughts of the Elder God’s dinner, but in our hands, it’s a magic without equal.

And they do not stir in response. They slumber still, ignoring our ascension.

Viika was right. This place is special. Yet they choose not to claim the gift. Why? I wonder.
